Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Winner of Soros award (1997), President's award (2005), Potanin's award (2010), author or more than 10 scientific papers in "Solid State Communications", "Journal for Magnetism and Magnetic Materials", "Physica B" magazines; 12-year experience of teaching physics to students at the Faculty of Sciences at Lomonosov MSU, experience in teaching practical and seminar classes, faculty lectures, teaching a special course for solid state quantum physics at MSU's Physics faculty.
About the course
This course is not meant to be sequential or to have a strict derivation of formulas. This course will consist of a description of different physical entities that can be explained using the hands, in a dance or by drawing on a blackboard. Sometimes, when following rigorous presentation of a difficult mathematical subject, one might lose sight of the end goal of studying it. In the scope of our course, the author will speak his heart and soul out about the subjects that he deems the most interesting and illustrative.
Structure of the course
1. Mechanics (dynamics) (7 lectures).
2. Mechanics (sound, oscillations).
3. Gas dynamics. Some issues related to molecular physics.
4. Electricity.
5. Optics.
6. Basic quantum mechanics.
Purpose of the course
This course is not meant to be sequential or to have a strict derivation of formulas. Instead, it offers the possibility to easily and illustratively study different physical entities.
Required qualifications
Middle and high school students, their parents, and science faculty students.
